About Good Works
I love the heart of God.
I found it to be a truth in my life, when you decide to pour your life
out for others in service, counsel, and love.
God sees it fit to make sure all your needs are met.
Many have asked, “How can I be sure I am doing the work of
God or just doing my own good works?” It
comes down to faith. It says in
scripture that the only way to please God is through faith. Now faith is an action word and has three
parts.
First is belief, we must believe that God is and his son
Jesus died for our sins and this work was a free gift to us.
Second, we must trust, It is written in Proverbs “Trust the
Lord God with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding.”
The last part is action or the doing of good works. It is written and I am paraphrasing, Faith
without works is dead, and work without faith is dead works. Dead works speaks to motive. If you are motivated out of some grand design
to personally gain from your good works or motivated out of a must do to gain access
to heaven your works are dead.
God wants purity of heart and a cheerful giver, a person not
looking for personal gain or being persuaded in any way to give. In this way when my service and counsel has
produced a need met or healing from a hurt, I know this was a work of God in
both me and the one I am helping. For
nothing I do in myself is good that is in my sinful nature, but through faith
God’s work can work in me and through me. In this way God is always glorified.
Friends, we have a good God, who cannot lie, and therefore upholds
all of his promises!
Hey share what you just read with a Friend
